His Father Exporting Business Was Growing Rapidly, So In 1859 Jamsetji Tata Went To Hong Kong To Set Up A Subsidiary And Then He Realizes The Export Business Has a Global Potential And Later He Travelled To Japan, China, and Britain Establishing A Network Of Distribution For His Father Business.

Then Later In 1868, Jamsetji Tata Created His Own Exporting Company. And By Using His Money He Started Building Textile Mills. In His Textile Mills He Offered Sickness Benefits And Pensions To His Employees This Was The First Time In India. This His How the Tata Group Started.

Ambitions Of JAMSETJI TATA

Jamsetji Tata Has 4 Major Goals. That Are, Establish An Iron And Steel Company, Hotel, World Class Learning Institution And Hydro Electric Plant.

In The Year 1903, Jamsteji Tata Completed One Of His Ambition By Establishing Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. This Is The First Indian Hotel With Electricity.

But Unfortunately, Jamsetji Tata Died On A Business Trip In The Year 1904, Without Achieving His Ambitions.

In The Year 1904, Jamsetji Tata Son Dorabji Tata Has Taken The Responsibilities Of Tata Group And As Well As His Father Ambition.

In The Year 1907 Dorabji Tata Established Tata Iron and Steel Company. Started Establishing World Class Institution As Indian Institute Of Science In The Year 1911 And Established Hydro Electric Plant In Maharashtra In The Year 1915.

This Is How Tata Power Started, Tata Power Is India’s Biggest Electricity Company.

The Leadership Of JRD TATA

In The Year 1938 JRD Tata Has Became The Chairman Of the Tata Group, But JRD Had Been In Company Since 1925.

JRD Is Raised In France. In 1929 He Obtained India’s First Pilot License, In The Year 1932 JRD Tata Started Air Services Which Is Used To Send Mails And Goods.

In The Year 1938 Started Passenger Flights As Well. Later It Was Changed To Tata Airlines, And Now Tata Airlines Is Known As Air India, Owned By Government.

In The Year 1945, Tata Motors Was Established With The Idea Of Building Locomotives. But In 1954 Tata Motors Started Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles Through Partnership With German Company Daimler.

In The Year 1968 TCS Was Established, In The Year 1954, Voltas Was Established.

Over The 52 Years Of JRD Leadership. Tata Group Was Expanded Into So Many Segments.

The Leadership Of RATAN TATA

RATAN TATA Joined The Tata Group In The Year 1962. His First Major Project Came In 1971.

Ratan Tata Was Given Charge Of NELCO, At That Time NELCO Was Struggling, In 1950s NELCO Is India’s Biggest Producer Radios But When Ratan Tata Taken Charge Of NELCO, The Market Share Of NELCO In Radios Is Just 3%.

But Ratan Tata Focus Was On Technology And the Future, So Instead Of Solving The Radios Problem, He Started Funding For The Development Of New Products Like Satellite Communications. Which Helped NELCO And Made Ratan Tata As The Successor Of JRD Tata.

Ratan Tata Became The Leader Of Tata Group In The Year 1991. But In the 1990s Every Tata Company Started Losing Ground To International competitors.

So Ratan Tata Started Acquiring Foreign Competitors, Effectively Buying All Their Talent And Supply Chains And Experience Which Automatically Strengthen Tata Business In India And Also Expanding Internationally.

In The Year 2000 Tata Acquired Tetley Company From Britain. Over the Next Decade, Tata Group acquired Over 100 Companies.

The Most Notable Purchases Are European Steel Titan Corus For $12 Billion In 2007 And Then Jaguar And Land Rover For $2 Billion In 2008.
